Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
