White House Accused of Assault on Freedom of Expression After UK Reporter Held
A prominent Muslim civil rights association has charged the current leadership of a clear affront to free speech” after federal immigration authorities arrested UK reporter Sami Hamdi on Sunday.
The organization asserted that Hamdi was held at San Francisco airport facility due to criticizing the Israeli ongoing military operations in Gaza. He is one of several people who have been arrested and removed by immigration enforcement for expressing pro-Palestine stances.
Federal authorities said that the journalist’s travel visa had been terminated, and that he was in detention “facing expulsion.”

UK reporter Sami Hamdi was said to be detained over the weekend by border officials at San Francisco international airport, and the organization claims that the detention is apparent retaliation for the Muslim commentator’s comments of Israeli actions while traveling in the United States.
Comments from the organization labeled it was “an obvious insult to freedom of expression” to detain Hamdi for speaking out against the Israeli ongoing military campaign in Gaza while he was involved on a speaking tour. An administration official added in a separate statement that Hamdi is facing deportation.
